To the Honourable Speaker and Members of the House of Representatives assembled parliament:
The petition of certain citizens of Australia draws to the attention of the House the pending sale of the RAAF Base at Pt Cook Victoria, and the importance of this airfield and its historic buildings in the establishment of military flying in Australia, and development of civil aviation during the early part of last century, and its value as a cultural icon and ongoing operating airport deserving of similar treatment to other important heritage Defence sites in Sydney Harbour and Point Nepean, and former FAC airports retained in community ownership.
Your petitioners request the House to retain Point Cook as an operating airfield in Government Ownership and managing it through lease to a Community Based Not for Profit Organisation to ensure .the preservation of the site and development of Point Cook as a focal point for aviation heritage, aviation preservation, education and tourism.
