Dr EMERSON (1:48 PM) —I want to pay tribute today in the federal parliament to the great work that Greenbank RSL does for our local community in Logan West. Just last year, Greenbank RSL donated $350,000 directly to the community, which amounts to 25 per cent of the total profit of this organisation. Greenbank RSL has a seniors membership of 5,000. Seniors day is held every Thursday and is attended by 400 to 500 of our seniors. It involves guest speakers, crafts skills and friendship. The Greenbank RSL employs 280 people, making it probably the largest employer in the Logan West area. The Greenbank RSL provides three permanent volunteer officers for the ex-service men and women of the area. It also provides a bus that runs to Greenslopes hospital every day for relatives and friends to use for visiting. The club has 65,000 members—a massive membership—and provides entertainment and friendship for the community. It is the hub of our local community in Logan West. I pay tribute to the management and board of Greenbank RSL for the fantastic work that they do.
