Ms JANN McFARLANE (2:45 PM) —My question is to the Prime Minister and it refers to Australia's participation in the United Nations disarmament discussions currently under way as part of the 58th session of the UN General Assembly. Prime Minister, will the Australian government vote in favour of the two resolutions to be considered by UN members and supported by the New Agenda Coalition entitled `Towards a nuclear weapon free world: the need for a new agenda' and `Reduction of non-strategic nuclear weapons'? If not, Prime Minister, why not?

Mr HOWARD (Prime Minister) —I have to say to the honourable member that I am not aware of the text of those resolutions and therefore I cannot answer the question. I will get some advice on that and, if I can, I will inform the honourable member before she departs this place to return to her electorate.
