Ms MACKLIN (2:36 PM)
—I support the Prime Minister's motion, and I join with the Prime Minister, the Leader of the Opposition and the Deputy Prime Minister in condemning what they have all described as deplorable acts of murder that occurred last night in both Jerusalem and Baghdad. We extend our heartfelt sympathies to all who have been touched by this senseless violence and terrible waste of life. We mourn all those who have died and offer our condolences to their families.
We have a very different sentiment for the cowards who are responsible for these gross acts of violence, which have been rightly described as murder. The terrorist attack on the UN building in Baghdad is an attack on human decency, and its perpetrators have not a thread of morality with which to justify themselves. News reports today indicate that this building was an easy target because the UN deliberately did not want to lock itself up in a fortified building. It is just so unjust—
The SPEAKER
—I am sure if it would facilitate the House I could call someone from the other side and then allow the member for Jagajaga to continue.
Mr McMullan
—I think that would be a better idea, Mr Speaker.
The SPEAKER
—I recognise the Minister for Foreign Affairs.
