Mr ABBOTT (Leader of the House) (4:04 PM) —It might help members of the House if I gave them some information as to the likely sitting this evening. As all members would appreciate, it is the desire of the government to try to ensure that we can leave here as soon as possible. The latest advice I have from the Senate is that there is every chance that we will be able to conclude our business by a reasonable hour this evening. According to the Senate, a reasonable hour is 11 p.m. or midnight. My expectation is that, if that does not turn out to be the case, we will adjourn the House at a reasonable hour this evening and come back at 8 o'clock tomorrow morning and, hopefully, finish our business before 9 o'clock.
