Ms Vamvakinou asked the Minister Assisting the Minister for Defence, upon notice on, 24 March 2003:

In respect of recent speculation of Australia's role in obtaining a Missile Defence System, what is the projected percentage of the total defence budget that is planned for future budget years for the purposes of missile defence.


Mrs Vale (Minister for Veterans' Affairs and Minister Assisting the Minister for Defence) —The answer to the honourable member's question is as follows:

The Government has not made any decision in relation to missile defence and there is no funding in the Defence budget to achieve a strategic ballistic missile defence capability.
