Mr CREAN (3:03 PM) —My question is to the Prime Minister. My question refers to an answer he gave to an earlier question I asked him in which he said:

Some commentators have even suggested that the targeting policies of the allies in this conflict have been such as to put at greater risk the lives of defence personnel serving on behalf of the United States and the United Kingdom.

Prime Minister, given that our troops are fighting with the allied troops, why hasn't your government made an assessment as to whether the targeting policy of the allies does put our troops at greater risk?

Mr HOWARD (Prime Minister) —I will check it, but my recollection is that in the answer I gave to the earlier question I said that that was the view of some commentators, but it was not the view of the government.

The DEPUTY SPEAKER (Hon. I.R. Causley)—The Leader of the Opposition!

Mr HOWARD —I will repeat: it is not our assessment. That is what I thought I had said and I will check the transcript. If I did not say it, I am saying it now.
