Ms O'Byrne
asked the Minister representing the Minister for Family and Community Services, upon notice, on 24 June 2002:
How many families are currently on waiting lists for child care places in the electoral division of Bass.
Mr Anthony (Minister for Children and Youth Affairs)
—The Minister for Family and Community Services has provided the following answer to the honourable member's question:
The Department of Family and Community Services does not collect information on waiting lists held by child care services.
Child care places for family day care, outside school hours care, and in-home care are allocated by the Department of Family and Community Services to areas identified through the child care national planning system. There is no limit on the number of long day care centre places.
