To the Honourable the Speaker and members of the House of Representatives assembled in parliament:

The petition of certain citizens of Australia draws to the attention of the House that bear baiting continues in Pakistan.

Your petitioners therefore:

Pray that the House sends the petition with the full support of the House of Representatives to the High Commissioner of Pakistan so that action can be taken by the highest authority in that nation to stop this cruel treatment of animals. Your petitioners wish the House to know that the Pakistani Government banned this practice one hundred years ago, but that this ban has not been enforced, thereby the heinous practice of the maltreatment of animals has continued unabated to this day.

by Mr Danby (from 71 citizens).
