Mr Kelvin Thomson asked the Minister for the Environment and Heritage, upon notice, on 14 March 2002:

Did the Senate Estimates response show that estimated monies in the Natural Heritage Trust on 31 December 2000 totalled $691m, and that disbursements from the Trust since then for the period 1 January to 30 June 2001 were $167m; if so, what remaining money has been disbursed since then.


Dr Kemp (Minister for the Environment and Heritage) —The answer to the honourable member's question is as follows:

Yes, these figures were given in response to a Budget Estimates question asked by Senator Bolkus on 5 June 2001 (Question no. 176 Senate Environment, Communications, Information Technology & the Arts Legislation Committee).

In the period 1 July 2001 to 28 February 2002, $139m has been disbursed.
