Dr MARTIN (3:19 PM) —Mr Speaker, I wish to make a personal explanation.

The SPEAKER —Does the honourable member claim to have been misrepresented?

Dr MARTIN —Yes.

The SPEAKER —Please proceed.

Dr MARTIN —Thank you. In response to a question concerning the United States government's decision to place a 30 per cent tariff on the import of Australian steel, in apparent contravention of their commitment to free trade, the Minister for Foreign Affairs said that I did not support an Australia-United States free trade agreement. I do support such an agreement, but not at the expense of Australian industries and Australian jobs, particularly those of my electorate.
