Mr McMULLAN (3:34 PM)
—Mr Speaker, I wish to make a personal explanation.
Mr SPEAKER
—Does the Manager of Opposition Business claim to have been misrepresented?
Mr McMULLAN
—I have been misrepresented by the minister for communications and by the Prime Minister in quoting the minister for communications in that misrepresentation.
Mr SPEAKER
—The Manager of Opposition Business may proceed.
Mr McMULLAN
—Thank you. The minister for communications and the Prime Minister have sought to misrepresent me by misquoting a reference from an article in the Friends of the ABC ACT newsletter in which they combine quotes from me and their commentary on what I said and, in fact, purport to say that I said I wanted more ministerial intervention in identifying areas of dedicated funding; whereas even in their fuller, although still somewhat inaccurate coverage of that interview, they said, correctly, that I came across as having very real doubts on the capacity of ABC board and management to deliver. That is true. What they said in the newsletter is accurate and what the Prime Minister said is not.
Mr SPEAKER
—The Manager of Opposition Business has indicated where he has been misrepresented and will resume his seat.
