Mr SPEAKER (3:21 PM) —I am pleased to inform the House that, at the April meetings of the international Association of Secretaries-General of Parliaments, the Clerk of the House was elected vice-president of the association. I understand this is the first time that an Australian has been given such an honour.

Mr SPEAKER —I warn the Chief Opposition Whip. The Clerk's unfailing courtesy is never more evident than in his dealings with other parliaments, and I am sure this particular capacity of his and the many others he exhibits will continue to serve him well in this new role.
