Mr LEO McLEAY (3:19 PM) —Mr Speaker, I have a question for you. Do you recall yesterday that the opposition raised with you an interjection made by the Minister for Forestry and Conservation and that you indicated that you had not heard the interjection, and that subsequently the minister withdrew? Have you seen newspaper reports, particularly page 1 of today's Australian, which confirm that the minister used language that has not been used before in the House? As the newspaper has now put the words on the public record, will you call on the minister to apologise to the House, as you did the member for Lyons on 27 February this year?

Mr SPEAKER —My attention was drawn to the article on the front page of the Australian today. I consulted both of the clerks and ascertained that neither of them had heard the alleged comment made by the Minister for Forestry and Conservation. The Minister for Forestry and Conservation had voluntarily withdrawn the comment and I consider the matter closed. I do not know what the comment was.
