Mr Martin Ferguson
asked the Minister for Transport and Regional Services, upon notice, on 6 February 2001:
(1) Did the Government announce on 4 January 2001 that a toll, at an expected rate of $4 to $5, will be charged on the Western Sydney Orbital; if so, will a toll apply on the proposed new route of the National Highway between the M2 and F3.
(2) Whilst the NSW Roads and Traffic Authority will manage the planning study of the proposed link between the M2 and F3, what is the expected cost of the link and at what stage are negotiations between the NSW and Commonwealth Governments as to who will meet the cost of the link.
Mr Anderson (Deputy Prime Minister)
—The answer to the honourable member's question is as follows:
(1) The toll on the Western Sydney Orbital (WSO) is expected to be in the range of $4 to $5 for a car travelling the full 39km length of the WSO. No decision has been taken on the funding method for the M2-F3 link.
(2) Estimates of the cost of the M2-F3 link will be developed in conjunction with the route selection process announced in January. The M2-F3 link will form part of the National Highway and hence is a Federal funding responsibility.
