Mr EDWARDS (3:27 PM) —In view of the importance of next year, I would be most grateful if perhaps you and the Presiding Officer in the other place could review the subsidy that is provided to students from schools in outlying states like Western Australia to ensure that they can take the opportunity to visit this place during the most important celebrations which will take place next year. I am sure I speak on behalf of every member of parliament from the states more removed from Canberra.

Mr SPEAKER —I thank the member for Cowan. I will take up the matter. I would of course point out to him that any dramatic increase in the number of students would in itself put strains on the budget, as I am sure he is aware.
