Mr SAWFORD —As you are well aware, Mr Speaker, the Port Adelaide Magpies will play in a grand final this Sunday. They are of course the most successful Australian Rules football club of any code in Australia. Remarkably, they have played in 71 grand finals, of which they have won 35. On Sunday, hopefully that will be 36.

We face arch-rival Norwood, whom we treat with great respect and an equal amount of mutual loathing. There will be a full house at Football Park. Our coach, Stephen Williams, our captain, David Brown, and 21 selected Port Adelaide Magpies in the traditional guernsey will represent the Port Adelaide area with great distinction. I am sure the newly appointed chief executive officer, Paul Belton, a former great player himself, is hoping for a successful induction as the premiership CEO.

Football Park in Adelaide is the most spectator friendly stadium in Australia. Port and Norwood are sure to please not only the spectators; I am sure the SANFL chiefs, Max Basheer and Leigh Whicker, will be absolutely delighted with a screaming full house and an acknowledgment of their sound administration in past years.

Here's hoping for a Port Adelaide Magpies win.
