Mr SPEAKER —I observe that the Prime Minister has frequently said in this place—and everyone has endorsed his remarks—that the things that unite us as parliamentarians are much more significant than the things that divide us, and this afternoon we have seen a classic illustration of the truth of that remark.

Mr Deputy Prime Minister, this House is united in saying thank you to you for the service you have rendered to the people of Australia and for the service you will go on rendering to the people of Farrer—thank you, we appreciate that. We are also united in extending to you, Judy and the family our very best wishes.

The electorate of Wakefield and the electorate of Farrer are adjoining electorates. We have many similar profiles. But it will not be the experience with the citrus industry or a trip to Antarctica that determines the association that Carolyn and Neil have with Judy and Tim. It will be the friendship that we have experienced that will—in common with almost everyone in this House—go well beyond your occupancy of either the present office or the seat of Farrer. We thank you.

Honourable members —Hear, hear!
