Mr BEAZLEY (3:21 PM) —Mr Speaker, I claim to have been absolutely misrepresented.

Government members interjecting

Mr SPEAKER —The members on my right will come to order, including the Leader of the House.

Mr BEAZLEY —They love dishing it out, but they sure hate taking it.

Mr SPEAKER —The Leader of the Opposition needs to indicate to me that he has been misrepresented in some way.

Mr BEAZLEY —In the previous remarks of the Prime Minister—

Honourable members interjecting

Mr SPEAKER —I beg your pardon. I am endeavouring to assist the Leader of the Opposition, without a great deal of assistance from his frontbench. The procedure is that the Leader of the Opposition claims to have been misrepresented.

Mr SPEAKER —The Leader of the Opposition may proceed.

Mr BEAZLEY —The Prime Minister got up and said that I had not been prepared to raise these matters in the House with him. He knows darn well that I asked him a question about that yesterday. He would also know that over the weekend when asked my opinion as to whether or not Mr Downer—

Mr Reith —I raise a point of order.

Mr BEAZLEY —Oh, get off it! Sit down! Sit down, you goose!

Mr Reith —He ought to sit down.

Mr SPEAKER —You will both resume your seats. The Leader of the Opposition is seeking the call.

Mr BEAZLEY —Yes. And, as the Sydney Morning Herald editorial points out today, even before he turned up at Lord's, Mr Downer was being criticised—

Mr Howard —You're playing a bit of catch-up there!

Mr Reith interjecting—

Mr SPEAKER —The Leader of the Opposition will resume his seat and so will the Leader of the House.

Mr Griffin interjecting—

Mr SPEAKER —The member for Bruce will excuse himself from the House under the provisions of standing order 304A.

The honourable member for Bruce thereupon left the chamber.
