Mr BEAZLEY —My question is to the Prime Minister. Does the Prime Minister stand by his statement in relation to the member for Leichhardt that ministers and parliamentary secretaries can `retain the assets that they had and the company arrangements they had provided there were not conflicts between their private interests and their public duty'? Is the Prime Minister completely satisfied that none of the assets or company arrangements of the member for Leichhardt result in a conflict between his private interests and his public duty?

Mr HOWARD (Prime Minister) —As far as the member for Leichhardt is concerned, I have made my position clear. I believe that the member for Leichhardt has behaved in a proper fashion. I have not had any evidence produced to me of a conflict between his private interests and his public duty, and that remains the position.
