To the Honourable the Speaker and Members of the House of Representatives assembled in Parliament:

The petition of certain citizens of Australia draws to the attention of the House that we have serious concerns about the introduction of a Goods and Services Tax (GST). Fresh food is a necessity for healthy living and should not be subjected to a new and unfair tax.

The majority of Australians oppose a GST on food items. Your petitioners request that the House does not proceed with legislation for a Goods and Services Tax.
