To the Honourable the Speaker and Members of the House of Representatives assembled in Parliament:
The petition of the undersigned deplores the failure of the Government to appoint a judge, from the Newcastle legal profession, to replace Justice Renaud in the Family Court in Newcastle. We are deeply concerned about the delay in dealing with custody and access cases that this will cause.
We believe that the profession in Newcastle has lawyers of the calibre required to fill this position and the inference, by the failure to appoint, is extremely insulting.
Your petitioners request the House to strongly support the replacement of the judge at the Newcastle Family Court.
