Mr Bevis
asked the Minister for Immigration and Multicultural Affairs, upon notice, on 8 February 1999:
(1) How many employees in the Minister's Department have their principal conditions of employment set by (a) an award, (b) an industrial agreement, (c) a certified agreement and (d) an Australian workplace agreement.
(2) What is the classification of each person in the Minister's Department employed under an Australian workplace agreement.
Mr Ruddock (Immigration and Multicultural Affairs; Minister Assisting the Prime Minister for Reconciliation)
—The answer to the honourable member's question is as follows:
(1) As of 17 February 1999: (a) nil; (b) nil; (c) 3066 and; (d) 27.
Officers within the Department of Immigration and Multicultural Affairs and under Australian Workplace Agreements (AWAs) are the Senior Executive Service (SES). The SES is employed under the Public Service Act 1922 with conditions of service set by AWAs. As of 17 February 1999 the classification levels for the SES were: SES Band 1—20 Officers; SES Band 2—6 Officers; SES Band 3—1 Officer.
