Ms WORTH (6:58 PM)
—I move:
(1) Schedule 1, item 1, page 3 (line 5), omit "Table B ", substitute `Table A ".
I present the signed explanatory memorandum. The amendment is required because of a drafting error. The amendment will ensure that the University of Notre Dame Australia will receive funding for operating purposes, under section 15 of the Higher Education Funding Act 1988, for its Broome campus, rather than under section 16 for limited operating purposes. The amendment will have the effect of providing the university with triennial funding as opposed to annual funding and will provide a capital roll-in and research quantum component in the university's operating grant as well as enable the university to seek funding under the capital development pool for major building works. This is consistent with the government's intention to provide a stable funding base for the university's Broome campus in recognition of the significant role that the university plays in that region.
Amendment agreed to.
Bill, as amended, agreed to.
Mr DEPUTY SPEAKER (Mr Nehl)
—The bill has been agreed to with an amendment. The question now is that the bill be reported to the House with an amendment.
