Mr O'KEEFE —I would just like to take a couple of seconds to make an observation to the member for Boothby (Dr Southcott), who made the claim during his contribution on the motion of the member for Lindsay (Miss Jackie Kelly) that there had not been child-care cuts. Just for your information, in my electorate alone there has been $6 million cut by your government from our child-care funding. There are 3,000 child-care places in my electorate, and that effectively works out to a $40 per week reduction from the funding subsidies available for those families for those child-care places. If you do not regard that as a cut, by gee, the people who have lost the $40 do, I can tell you that.
