Mr Latham asked the Minister for Transport and Regional Development, upon notice, on 26 March 1998:

Further to the answer to question No.37 (Hansard , 20 August 1996, page 3286) what is the (a) priority status of the proposed construction of on and off ramps south of Brooks Road on the M5 freeway at Ingleburn, NSW; (b) progress of discussions between his Department and the NSW Roads and Traffic Authority regarding this matter and (c) expected commencement date for the project.

Mr Vaile (Transport and Regional Development) —The answer to the honourable member's question is as follows:

(a) No decision has yet been made on the priority status of funding for construction of the F5 ramps. The Government is funding a $100,000 traffic study in 1997/98 to investigate the need for additional entry and exit ramps along the F5. The study, to be completed by mid-1998, is examining the need for ramps at the intersections of Raby Road, St Andrews Road, Campbelltown Road and Brooks Road in the Ingleburn and Minto area.

(b) The Department of Transport and Regional Development has discussed the possible need for additional ramps with the NSW Roads and Traffic Authority (RTA) in the context of the National Highway forward program in NSW. These discussions have also raised the possible need to develop joint funding arrangements with NSW, relevant councils and private sector developers.

(c) A commencement date and funding arrangements will be determined when the results of the current study are available.
