Mr TUCKEY —Mr Speaker, will you review the Hansard tapes of today, which will show the frequency with which the Leader of the Opposition either speaks over or interrupts your verbal attempts to provide rulings on his contributions? If so, would his actions contravene the rules of this House?

Mr SPEAKER —I think there are a good many actions that have contravened the rules of the House. I will look at the tapes. In the last two days, there have been significant interruptions, none of which have helped the processes of this place. At the same time, I think we could hear a little more today than we could yesterday. I take on board the honourable member for O'Connor's suggestion.

Mr Ross Cameron —Mr Speaker—

Mr SPEAKER —I am still talking. If members continue to talk when I am endeavouring to provide a ruling, it is impossible for that ruling to be heard and, therefore, for it to be executed. In that respect, the honourable member for O'Connor's conclusion is certainly accurate.
