Mr LEE
—My question is addressed to the Prime Minister. Prime Minister, do you now recall giving your personal guarantee that `pensions and other social security and veterans payments and entitlements will not be cut'? Prime Minister, this poster, published by the Department of Social Security, lists the pensioner entitlements to which pensioners were entitled in 1996, and that includes free dental care, essential medicines and free hearing aids, all of which have been cut by your government. Will the Prime Minister tell the House exactly which pensioner entitlements are now covered by his personal guarantee?
Mr HOWARD (Prime Minister)
—An entitlement is something that flows directly from an act of parliament. You know that. I know that. Any reasonable person knows that. We have honoured our commitments in those terms.
