Mr HOWARD (Prime Minister) —I inform the House that the Minister for Immigration and Multicultural Affairs will be absent from question time today. Mr Ruddock will be addressing the Melbourne Press Club in Melbourne and opening the premises of the Australian Vietnamese Women's Welfare Association. The Attorney-General will answer questions on his behalf in relation to immigration and multicultural affairs, and the Minister for Health and Family Services will answer questions relating to his representation of the social security portfolio. The Minister for the Status of Women is absent from question time today. She is attending the Commonwealth-state conference on the status of women in Brisbane. Questions on this portfolio today will be answered by the Minister for Defence Industry, Science and Personnel.
