Mr ALBANESE (12:39 PM) —Mr Speaker—

Mr SPEAKER —On what basis do you wish to rise?

Mr ALBANESE —On indulgence, I wish to make a personal explanation on the same matter.

Mr SPEAKER —I do not know that you have any status to make a personal explanation. I will give you indulgence, but I do not expect every member of the House who is here to rise on indulgence.

Mr ALBANESE —I was also named, along with the member for Batman (Mr Martin Ferguson), in the Sydney Morning Herald on Wednesday, 18 March, in an article by Alan Ramsey in which he suggested:

Nobody, including either of Kernot's two Labor colleagues present, Albanese and Martin Ferguson, protested—

and it goes on. I wish to refute any suggestion that there were no objections raised by me or the member for Batman. I am sure the member for Adelaide (Ms Worth) would confirm that I interjected across the chamber towards her and that I also made interjections to you, Mr Speaker, as I found the comments of the member for Swan (Mr Randall) quite offensive, as would any decent human being.
