Mr STEPHEN SMITH —My question is directed to the Prime Minister. Does the Prime Minister stand by his code of conduct and the requirements of the parliament that ministers fully declare their interests, particularly where that might conflict with their public duty? Is the Prime Minister aware that, having resigned his publicly declared directorship of Queensland Coal Mine Management, the Minister for Resources and Energy retained his shareholding in that company but kept it hidden by failing to declare it on his register of interests? Does this not represent a clear breach of your code of conduct?

Mr HOWARD (Prime Minister) —I will take the question on notice and come back at an appropriate time.

Mr Stephen Smith —I seek leave to table Minister Parer's register of interests.

Leave not granted.

Opposition members interjecting—

Mr SPEAKER —I ask members of the opposition please to remain silent.
