Mr Cobb
asked the Minister representing the Minister for Social Security, upon notice, on 23 October 1997:
How many persons resident in the electoral division of Parkes receive benefits from the Minister's Department for each type of assistance available.
Mr Ruddock
—The Minister for Social Security has provided the following answer to the honourable Member's question:
The Department of Social Security (DSS) produces data on recipients of all DSS pension, benefits and family payments by postcode. The publication titled `Recipients of Pensions, Benefits and Family Payments in Postcode Districts' is produced on a quarterly basis and is publicly available. It is also available through the Parliamentary Library.
A copy of the publication on diskette has also been forwarded to the honourable Member.
DSS does not have data available on customer numbers by electoral division, however the Parliamentary Library has converted the DSS postcode data and has it available by electoral division.
