To the Honourable the Speaker and Members of the House of Representatives assembled in Parliament:
The petition of certain residents of the state of New South Wales draws to the attention of the House their concern at the threat to the independence of the ABC by severe cuts to its funding. Your petitioners therefore pray that the House take such action as will enable the ABC to retain sufficient funding to maintain its pre-eminent position in Australian broadcasting free from political or commercial interference.
