The following notices were given:
Mr Latham to present a bill for an act to amend the Trade Practices Act 1974 to declare downstream access and price competition on petroleum terminals and their products.
Mrs Sullivan to move:
That this House:
(1) expresses its abhorrence at the Chinese Government's campaign of forcible sterilisation of Tibetan women and girls, and the associated abortion of any foetus;
(2) notes that in some areas of Tibet up to 70% of the female population in the 12-50 years age group has been forcibly sterilised as a result of this campaign;
(3) believes this campaign and its ramifications amounts to systematic genocide of the Tibetan race;
(4) calls on the Australian Government to take all appropriate action to pursue the Government of China to cease its campaign; and
(5) urges all Australians to boycott "Made in China" goods as a means of expressing their opposition to the gross violation of the human rights of the Tibetan people.
Mr Peter Baldwin to move:
That the AUSTUDY Regulations (Amendment), as contained in Statutory Rules 1996, No. 261, and made under the Student and Youth Assistance Act 1973, be disallowed.
Mr Costello to present a bill for an act to provide for a Charter of Budget Honesty.
Mr Reith to present a bill for an act to amend the Occupational Health and Safety (Commonwealth Employment) Act 1991 and the Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1988, and for related purposes.
Mr Miles to move:
That:
(1) the Tax Law Improvement Bill 1996 be referred to the Joint Committee of Public Accounts for consideration and an advisory report to the House by 6 March 1997;
(2) the terms of this resolution, so far as they are inconsistent with standing and sessional orders,
have effect notwithstanding anything contained in the standing and sessional orders; and
(3) a message be sent to the Senate acquainting it of this reference to the committee.
