Mr SLIPPER
—The Parliamentary Library has advised me that delivery of items from the Parliamentary Library to members' offices cannot be guaranteed within 24 hours and that indeed it is better if a staff member is dispatched to the Parliamentary Library to collect such items.
Mr Melham
—It is because of your cuts!
Mr SLIPPER
—In view of the $10.3 billion Beazley black hole you left us, you should not be talking.
Mr SPEAKER
—The member for Fisher is addressing a question to me.
Mr SLIPPER
—Given the waste of time that sending staff members to the Parliamentary Library all the time would entail, do you find such an extraordinary delay acceptable? What is a reasonable period for delivery after an item is placed into the system, and will you investigate whether delivery can take place within half a working day after the item has been put into the system?
Mr SPEAKER
—I do not find a delay of 24 hours extraordinary but, as I am unaware of the issue, I will take it up separately with the library and report back to the House or to you privately.
