Mr Kelvin Thomson
asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs, upon notice, on 20 August 1996:
Since 1 July 1994 which companies in the electoral division of Wills have: (a) been included in the Development Import Finance Facility scheme and (b) have received Export Market Development Grants Scheme grants.
Mr Downer
—As the honourable member's question falls within the Foreign Affairs and Trade portfolio, the following answer is provided on behalf of both ministers.
(a) Development Import Finance Facility (DIFF)
No companies based in the electoral division of Wills have, since 1 July 1994, either been issued with Letters of Advice, Letters of Formal Offers or received direct funding under the DIFF scheme.
(b) Export Market Development Grants (EMDG)
The confidentiality provisions of the Australian Trade Commission Act 1985 preclude the release of detailed information concerning the affairs of individual grant recipients such as, the electoral division in which companies receiving grants are located. Therefore, the information sought has been provided on an aggregate rather than on an individual basis.
Since 1 July 1994, a total of 36 grants under the EMDG scheme have been received by companies in the electoral division of Wills. The total value of these grants was $1,915,829.
