Mr Filing
asked the Minister representing the Minister for Employment, Education, Training and Youth Affairs, upon notice, on 27 June 1996:
Has the Government undertaken studies into the likely effects on the tertiary education system of proposed reductions in funding; if so, what effect will reductions have on the system's (a) ability to operate a full range of study and research programs and (b) export potential for training and research.
Dr Kemp
—The Minister for Employment, Education, Training and Youth Affairs has provided the following answer to the honourable member's question:
The Government continuously monitors all aspects of the higher education system. As part of the Budget process, the likely impact on funding, training and research programs (as outlined in parts (a) and (b) of the question) of any proposed changes to higher education funding will be carefully considered.
