Mr ANDERSON —The member for Werriwa asked me a question on Thursday which went to the heart of competition policy. I made the point that it really was more appropriately addressed to other ministers, but I also undertook to get back to him with some elucidation. I simply confirm that of course the Commonwealth supports competition policy. We support the concept that Queensland needs to be part of the national electricity grid and, in any case—

Mr Adams —But they are going into banking.

Mr ANDERSON —They are innovative up there, which is more than we can say for some others—the competition payments to the states in terms of the formulae agreed upon have the full support of this government.
