(Question No. 173)

Mr Broadbent asked the Minister for Health and Family Services, upon notice, on 9 May 1996:

How many Medicare services were provided per capita (a) in 1994-95 and (b) between 1 July 1995 and 1 May 1996 in the electoral division of McMillan.

Dr Wooldridge —The answer to the honourable member's question is as follows:

(a) In 1994-95, 8.3 services per capita were provided in the federal electoral division of McMillan.

(b) In the nine months July 1995 to March 1996 (the latest period for which data are available), 6.3 services per capita were provided in the federal electoral division of McMillan.

Note, the latest ABS population estimates, covering the 12 months to June 1994 were used in computing services per capita in both years.
