To the Honourable the Speaker and Members of the House of Representatives assembled in Parliament.
The petition of certain citizens of the Division of Indi draws the attention of the House to speculation that
(1) some Australian citizens desire to modify the Preamble to the Australian Constitution by omitting the phrase, `relying on the blessing of Almighty God', and
(2) some Australian citizens desire to eliminate the use of the Lord's Prayer from the daily prayers of the Australian Parliament.
Your petitioners therefore humbly request the House
(1) to refrain from passing legislation to such an alteration of the Preamble to the Australian Constitution, and
(2) to continue to allow the daily use of the Lord's Prayer in the Australian Parliament.
