The following notices were given:
Mr Price to move:
That this House:
(1) recognises that human rights are fundamental to all citizens in Australia, our region and the world;
(2) supports constructive attempts to improve human rights in our region;
(3) notes the important role of the Commonwealth Ombudsman, Ms Philippa Smith AM, and her staff as part of the Australian human rights infrastructure;
(4) expresses concern and alarm that the proposed budget for the Ombudsman is to be cut by 30 per cent thus denying and restricting the ability of ordinary Australians to seek redress against decisions by public servants; and
(5) considers that this cutback will result in a major and significant cutback to human rights in Australia.
Mr Reith to present a bill for an act to amend the Industrial Relations Act 1988, and for other purposes.
Mr Sharp to present a bill for an act about airports.
Mr Sharp to present a bill for an act to amend the leasing of airports, and for related purposes.
