Mr PETER MORRIS(9.34 a.m.)
—Mr Speaker, may I take this opportunity to extend to you my congratulations on your ascension to this chair.
Mr McGauran
—It won't do you any good.
Mr PETER MORRIS
—If you don't agree, just shut up. Mr Speaker, I do that with sincerity. We have worked together over a number of years and I have appreciated the integrity of your actions in respect of members. I look forward to that continuing integrity. I move:
That so much of the standing and sessional orders be suspended as would prevent the member for Lalor moving forthwith for the appointment of a committee to examine long term strategies for the future.
Mr Martin
—I second the motion.
Motion (by Mr Reith) put:
That the question be now put.
