To the Honourable the Speaker and Members of the House of Representatives assembled in Parliament:

This petition of certain citizens of Australia points out to the House:

That we welcome Parliament's decision to increase the Pensioner Tax Rebate to $430 but point out this still leaves the allowable earnings before tax has to be paid to be less than applied in March 1983 and by June next year will be very small indeed.

We also point out that the pension has not increased in real terms since 1983 and the six weeks delay from May and November to June and December further deprives pensioners of their just entitlements. We therefore call on the Parliament to:

1. To immediately restore the May/November adjustment dates for the Pension and move quickly to implement the Government's promise of 1983 to reduce the delay to only one month.

2. To increase the Pensioner Tax Rebate to $800 and index this rebate.

And your petitioners, as in duty bound, will ever pray.
