Mr LIONEL BOWEN (Attorney-General)(6.19) —I move:

Page 67, Schedule 1, clause 3, item relating to proposed subsection 10 (2) of the Wine Grapes Levy Collection Act 1979, insert `, and any information or thing (including any document) obtained as a direct or indirect consequence of the furnishing of the return or information,' after `any such return or information that is furnished'.

The amendment extends the protection afforded by the new section to include any information or thing obtained as a direct or indirect consequence of the furnishing of the return so as to bring the provision into line with similar provisions in other legislation. The matter really is on the basis that where that information is required it cannot be used to incriminate a person in any subsequent prosecution. It is on that basis that the amendment has been moved and is understood.

Amendment agreed to.

Bill, as amended, agreed to.

Bill reported with an amendment; report-by leave-adopted.
