Mr Bungey asked the Minister for the Capital Territory, upon notice, on 9 April 1981:

(1) Was the Marymead Children's Centre granted $1,200 to complement or undertake Departmental responsibilities and $20,000 for welfare purposes in 1979-80; if so, for what reason.


Mr Hodgman —The answer to the honourable member's question is as follows:

I am informed by my Department that-

(1) Marymead was given two grants in 1979-80-$1,200 to meet the cost of transporting children, placed in the Centre by Welfare Branch, to and from school. $20,000 for welfare purposes.

(2) The Centre provides a service to children of families in crisis situations.
