CARR STUMPED ON REASONS FOR PROMOTING OBEID
Today in the Senate, the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Senator Bob Carr, could offer no excuse for repeatedly promoting Eddie Obeid when Premier of NSW.
Senator Carr had no credible answer to rebut former Premier, Morris Iemma’s charge that he had very publicly voted for Eddie Obeid to be a Cabinet Minister in order to send a message that Obeid’s candidacy should be supported.
Nor could Senator Carr give any credible explanation as to why he dumped frontbenchers in 1995 - as well as in 1999 - in efforts to install Obeid as one of his Ministers.
Clearly Senator Bob Carr could offer no excuses for his repeated promotion of Eddie Obeid.
His efforts last night on Four Corners to distance himself from Eddie Obeid, who he saw as “a marginal figure…never to be taken seriously,” must therefore be discounted.
If Eddie Obeid was such a marginal figure, then why did Senator Carr repeatedly act to promote him?
