Presentation of first » bill for assent

It has become the practice for the « first bill to be assented to by a newly-appointed Governor-General to be presented by the Speaker in person, accompanied by the Clerk of the House. The Attorney-General has sometimes been present also, and, as a formal procedure, at the Governor-General’s request, provided advice as to the desirability of assent.
