House: House of Representatives Portfolio: Finance

Purpose To appropriate an additional $5 201 000 from the Consolidated Revenue Fund (CRF) for the recurrent expenditure of the Parliamentary Departments in 1992- 3.

Background Refer to the Digest for the Appropriation Bill (No. 5) 1992- 3.

Main Provisions Clause 3 will authorise the Minister for Finance to issue $5 201 000 from the CRF for the purposes specified in the Schedule to the Bill. The funds are allocated as follows: * Senate: Operating expenses - $549 000.

* House of Representatives: Operating expenses - $506 000. Compensation and legal expenses - $40 000.

* Parliamentary Reporting Staff: Operating expenses - $2 311 000.

* Parliamentary Library: Operating expenses - $1 515 000. Compensation and legal expenses - $30 000.

* Joint House Department: Operating expenses - $250 000.
