Mr FLEMING (ROBERTSON, NEW SOUTH WALES) asked the Assistant Minister for Defence, upon notice -

1.   'Is it a fact that an Expeditionary Force was organized to take possession of certain islands in the Pacific?

2.   Is it a fact that when the Force so organized arrived it found that an Allied Power had taken possession of those islands?

3.   Is it a fact that the officers and men of that Force are held by the Defence Department to have never been in a theatre of war, and hence are deprived of any privileges belonging to those who have been in such a theatre?
