    25   DISCUSSION OF MATTER OF PUBLIC IMPORTANCE— Australia’s car manufacturing industry

The House was informed that both Mr S. P. Jones and Mr K. J. Andrews had proposed that definite matters of public importance be submitted to the House for discussion today. In accordance with the provisions of standing order 46, the Speaker had given priority to the matter proposed by Mr S. P. Jones, namely, “The urgent need to maintain support and co-investment in Australia’s car manufacturing industry to ensure it, and the hundreds of thousands of people whose jobs depend on it, have a secure future”.
